The Meat is Cheap in Siagon
There is something... wicked... yet so deliciously sweet about going to an Octoberfest Beer Party on Conference Weekend. At the very least it makes me feel like a damn heathen gentile. Well a very happy damn heathen gentile. tee hee hee.
The Beer Party was in Olympus Cove which involved driving up alot of step hills, and I was kinda worried Martha wouldn't make it up the street. Luckily I was able to park her in a street that runs along the grain of the hill, instead of just straight up'n'down it.
Of course all good beer deserves alot of meat to with it, and we where not disapointed. This reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw - "If God meant for us to be vegetarian, he wouldn't of made animals so delicious". Seriously the bockwurst was delicious. And I know it is completely evil to eat something that is veal, but it was only for one day...
Went to the Circle Lounge with Danny and Deacon afterwards for Sushi. For the life of me I thought it was a lesbian bar, and frankly.. it did have a bordello/bathhouse feeling about it. I actually didn't like the place. The sushi was bland and rather expensive and the wasabi had no kick to it. When I have Wasabi, I want to feel as much kick as a horse kicking me in the mouth.
Afterwards after being dropped off at my car which I parked at my old work (it is conference weekend, I am not foolish enough to think there is a free carspace downtown), we went to Hollywood video on a mission to find the Matt Damon movie "Rounders". Now that mission came about off all things talking about ESPN and how we like watching Poker on ESPN. Danny asked if I have ever scene the movie, I replied in the negative, and we went on a quest afterwards to see if we can find it.
Unfortunately the DVD was scratched and somewhere in transit of being replaced. So in defeat we went back to Deacon's house to play video games.
Now it takes all of five minutes to get from Hollywood Video (on 400 South) to the Capitol Hill neighhourhood, but Deacon, giving me directions, made the unfortunate decision not to go straight up State Street, but to go up Main Street instead. Of course conference just happened to finish for the evening, and quiet seriously it took us 15 minutes to navigate one block through all the traffic and pedestrians.
We played the X-Box for a couple of hours. They tried to introduce me to "Halo". Let me just state for the record now, I sucked eggs at "Halo". Oh, I enjoyed it, it was just I sucked royally. On the other hand I have discovered a hilarious parody of "Halo" online called 'Red Vs Blue' which I find hilarious.
We then played some Golf game. Thought it was like skanky golf with stripper golfers, hood golfers and hustler golfers etc. I was marginally better at that. I guess computer games are just not my thing.
We then watched SNL. I am not a huge watcher of the show, but it was fun to see a parody of the Presidental Debate. Especially since I did't get to watch the real one myself.
I actually had a watch party planned. In fact I brought all the beer and food for it. Megan and Jesse where hosting it at Jesse and Brians place. In fact we managed to get Rod Decker to show up and do some filming. I was really excited about it all. But the Boss Lady made me work late, pissing me right off (I wasn't needed at all which makes me all the more mad). I was really not happy about it. What a frickin' waste.
But back to SNL. Actually fun episode tonight. And may I just say I am in complete and utter lust with Amy Poehler. She undoubtably is going to be the next breakout talent on the show.
